Nice descriptive title
Wem, an historic Shropshire market town is the birth place of the Sweet Pea, first commercially cultivated in this lovely little town in 1888…more importantly though, it is home to our second Wem Brewery Tap.
The White Lion is poised on the corner of Wem High Street bang opposite the Castle, the other of our Taps. The White Lion dates from the mid-19th century, and it has been one of the busiest pubs in the town ever since. It has since been sympathetically restored by Joule’s revealing beautiful oak floorboards and hidden beams whilst adding bespoke stained glass windows, an inviting log burner, friendly seating areas and cosy corners. It’s a proper pub so of course it has traditional pub games; darts, dommies, pool and big TV for all the important sport.
The Lion has a ‘Blooming Beer Garden’ to rival the Castle’s across the road and easy parking to the left of the pub and also on the town’s pay and display car park less than a minute’s walk away.
Always on Tap, Joule’s Pale Ale, Slumbering Monk, Pure Blonde and our English craft lager Green Monkey, alongside our rotating seasonal ale and cold craft beer. All brewed in Market Drayton with pure Shropshire mineral water.
Don’t miss, live music every Saturday night and don’t forget your dancing shoes…
