Tuesday 19th May saw over 150 charity runners celebrate their completion of the Silverdale Dash at Kents Lane Community centre, home of Silverdale Athletic FC, with complimentary craft beer as their reward from event sponsors, Joule’s Brewery.  Raising money for MacMillan Cancer Support, the 5km and fun run enjoyed a great turnout from fundraisers and challenged runners alike.

The Silverdale Dash that took place at Silverdale’s country park, on the evening of Tuesday 19th May was the first of its kind in the Staffordshire town as over 150 runners took part in the 5km course and shorter fun run, raising money for MacMillan Cancer Support.

Event organiser Andrew Vickerman commented after the race that “the evening had a great mix of club athletes and people attempting a challenge in the name of charity”, even the Great British weather could not dampen the spirits of the determined fundraisers and dedicated runners.

The full race itself has been mentioned as “one of the hardest” by a number of entrants, but nonetheless fun and a successful evening, raising what is looking to be in excess of £1000 once all the totals are in.

Local craft brewery Joule’s of Market Drayton proudly supported the event with complimentary beer for all adult finishers, of which finishers were delighted to receive on arrival at the finish, Silverdale Athletic FC’s clubhouse.  The Silverdale community and Joule’s already share close ties, with The Crown tap house on Brook Street as well as the brewery being club sponsors of Silverdale Athletic FC, and so working with and supporting the local event was a perfect fit.

Having raised a substantial amount for charity in its first year there is already calls for a repeat run next year, Andrew Vickerman finished by saying “thank you to everybody involved for making such a great evening”.

Congratulations to Andrew, the team behind the run and the runners themselves, we are extremely proud to have played a part in such a fantastic event that yielded so many positives!
