Joule’s Brewery Gives Town Day of Charitable Festive Cheer

Joule’s Brewery’s first ever charity Christmas fun run, the ‘THE JOULE’S TURKEY TROT,’ took place at the brewery on Sunday 15th December.

After months of planning with Mark Stevens of Fix Auto Market Drayton, Tim Beckett, Town Mayor and organiser of Market Drayton’s 10K, the towns brewery hosted the Sunday morning event which saw a fantastic turnout of both participants and on-lookers arriving to make the most of the festive cheer.

The 5K route which was both walked and ran by participants of all ages, even dogs, took entrants past Joule’s pubs, the Sandrook Vaults and The Lord Hill where they were cheered on by supporters. A grand effort was made by all of the run’s participants, seeing some fantastic fancy dress outfits, including the winning pair who dressed as Mary and Joseph carrying baby Jesus. They won themselve’s a box of their favourite Joule’s Ale for their charitable endeavour.

As the runners crossed the finish line at the brewery they were cheered on by plenty of on-lookers, whilst receiving their medals and very well deserved free pint of Joule’s ale. Prizes were kindly donated by Shepley’s Buthers and awarded to both Male and Female 1st, 2nd,and 3rd place runners.

Mince pies and hot turkey baps were also awaiting all involved helping to raise the Christmas Spirit, and music from the fabulous Heidi Brown continued the entertainment on throughout the day.

The proceeds of the day, in the region of £800, will be donated to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital Children’s Leukaemia Ward, a charity very close to hearts of the people of Market Drayton, as well as Joule’s local business partners Palethorpes.

Huge conratulations are sent to all involved, for making the day both enjoyable and successful, and hopely  the first of many more.
