Joule’s Brewery takes control of The Crown Hotel, Codsall on Wednesday 30th September. The freehold site has been acquired from Stonegate in an off market deal and is Joule’s biggest investment to date. The company plans to invest £275k in the refurbishment of the pub, its most ambitious pub scheme to date. Following a careful restoration The Crown Hotel, will re-open as a fully-fledged Joule’s Tap House in March 2016 and will be Joule’s 40th Freehold pub.
Chrissie Brook, MD for Joule’s ‘I know The Crown well from my time and M&B, I looked at it as a potential Ember trial site in the mid 90’s, the demographics are very strong and the population figure very good. It was retained for a number of years by M&B before it was transferred to Stonegate. We had to dig deep to acquire it, but it’s a grade A site and we are confident that we have the office to make this a fantastic pub for Codsall and its community.’
Bringing a taste of Joule’s to Codsall, the Tap House will be showcasing Joule’s renowned range of fine ales, including Joule’s Pale Ale, Blonde & Slumbering Monk as well as the seasonal collection. The Crown Hotel, will also be showcasing Joule’s Craft Lager, “Green Monkey” which will be alongside, the brewery’s first craft seasonal beer “Buffalo” an American Pale Ale.
Vicky of Joule’s Brewery commented ‘We had the pleasure of welcoming Wolverhampton CAMRA members to the brewery at the end of September, many of which were from Codsall. We were very pleased by the overwhelming reaction to our core ales and cold seasonal beer Buffalo. I’m sure a Joule’s House will be very well received on the fringes of Wolverhampton much like The Boldmere Tap in Sutton Coldfield. The new pub will still be an old fashioned inn at its heart but we will also offer the best in pub classics, simple food that is well done. Like the brewery in Market Drayton we will source locally and cook from fresh.’
Over the coming months a team of dedicated Joule’s craftsmen will be carefully restoring the ‘The Crown Inn’ to encapsulating everything that is great about the English pub, with a high quality bar offering, Joule’s aim to deliver the magic that can be seen throughout the rest of their tap estate across Shropshire, Staffordshire & Cheshire.Back to news article list
