The sun is finally shining on our build and we are making good progress. With all the poor weather and a few inevitable problems with this scale of build we are a little delayed and are now looking to our trial brews starting in August.
The good news is we have appointed our beer pipe fitters WGR engineering who will be in charge of the labyrinth of beer pipes, cleaning pipes, cooling, even the pumps and valves will be within their remit. A family firm, northern and 'to the point' - Bill and his Dad clearly know their way around complicated plant, they routinely re build complex machines and they will also be installing our steam boiler which is the size of a family car. Billy seems confident, which is reassuring.
As we wrap round the building with bricks we have also ordered the oak we need to clad the rear stores and the fermentation vessels. The oak is coming from our local specialist supplier Venebles, located just round the corner from our pub in Cheswardine, the Fox and Hounds. We've started on the roof for the beer store and so the steel frame which was so exciting to see last month is now rapidly disappearing as the new Joule's Brewery begins to emerge.
Other big news - we have recruited our Head Brewer, Adam Goodall, he will be joining us from Marston's Brewery on 5th July. Adam has been brewing superb beers for the last 15 years and I think it's fair to say he can't wait to start brewing Joule's again in his very own tailor made brewery. We are also delighted to announce that Phil Britton is our newly appointed Area Business Manager. Phil joins us having worked for Arkells Brewery in Wiltshire and also more locally at Muller in Market Drayton. Phil has stacks of experience and will be helping to ensure our estate of pubs or 'Brewery Taps' as we like to call them, is the best it can be.
Finally, we announced our very first sponsorship in April; we are the proud sponsors of Market Drayton Cricket Club and are delighted to be a part of this old and established club. We wish them every success this season and look forward to being their sponsor for the next six years.Back to news article list
